This striking structure is home to over 6,000 students from the Faculty of Engineering. The Diamond has the capacity to educate top quality engineers that the UK needs to address the skills shortage in the sector, those that will go on to tackle the biggest challenges facing the modern world.<\/p>\n

We are delighted to host our reception drinks at the historic Cutlers’ Hall<\/a><\/strong><\/span> in Sheffield. Established in 1638, this Grade II-star listed building (only ~5.5% of listed buildings in the UK) serves as the headquarters of the Company of Cutlers in Hallamshire. Located on Church Street, opposite Sheffield Cathedral, Cutlers’ Hall is renowned for its magnificent architecture and rich heritage. Its opulent interiors and grand halls provide a unique and memorable setting for our event.<\/p>\n

Our conference banquet will be held at the historic Kelham Island Museum<\/strong><\/a><\/span> in Sheffield. Established in 1982, the museum celebrates over 300 years of the city’s rich industrial heritage, showcasing the evolution from master craftsmanship to mass production. A highlight of the evening will be the demonstration of the River Don Engine<\/strong><\/a><\/span>, a 1905 marvel that stands as the most powerful working steam engine in Europe. Originally used for hot rolling steel armor plates, this 12,000-horsepower engine is renowned for its rapid reversing capability, essential for efficient steel rolling.<\/p>\n
