Being in Stanford

Located 35 miles south of San Francisco and 20 miles north of San Jose, Stanford University is in the heart of Northern California’s dynamic "Silicon Valley,” home to Yahoo!, Google, Hewlett-Packard, and many other cutting-edge companies that were started by and continue to be led by Stanford alumni and faculty. http://visit.stanford.edu/basics/

Lodging guide

Advice: an option chosen by many is to take a hotel along the Caltrain route (check "redwood city caltrain lodging” into Google Maps)
or along El Camino, with good bus service to get to campus.  Similar for Mountain View or even Millbrae (near the airport)

Transportation

Stanford Shuttle Service – Marguerite - is free and open to the public.
